Dental implants are an investment in your smile now and in the future. They offer permanent results for a lifetime, but that’s only if you take proper care of them. So, if you’re interested in making your dental implants last, please do the following things:
· Brush: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and brush your teeth every morning and night. Make sure you use fluoride toothpaste and you brush for about 2 minutes each time. Do your best to thoroughly scrub each tooth, especially the implant.
· Floss: Do your best to floss at least once a day. Flossing will help free the food particles that the brush could not reach. Please feel free to use whichever type of floss is comfortable, and make sure you are gentle around the gums as you clean the crevices of your smile.
· Attend your dental checkups: Make sure you visit your dentist every six months for a dental cleaning and checkup. Your dentist and hygienist will deeply clean your smile and will check on the implant. This is a great way to keep your restoration in tip-top shape as well as prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
Dr. Anthony Shaia might also give you a cleaning kit when you first complete the implant surgery. If this is the case, make sure you follow the instructions of your dentist and you do everything that needs to be done in order to properly clean and care for your implant. If you have any questions or if you would like to know more, please feel free to call Shaia Dental Care at 440-884-9898 now and talk to a member of our friendly dental team. We will be happy to help you!
