Are you afraid of the dentist? As you probably know, many people suffer from similar concerns about visiting the dentist. In fact, nearly half of all Americans have some type of dental anxiety. Fortunately, there are a few things you can consider to help you deal with your anxiety. One option we recommend is dental sedation.
However, there are a few different levels of sedation you should know about. For example, you could consider conscious sedation. As you’ve probably guessed, with this type of sedation you’ll be able to respond to our dentist verbally and physically. However, you could also need minimal sedation. If this form of sedation is right for you, you will still be able to respond to our dentist, though your coordination will probably be impaired.
At times, these relatively mild sedation methods may not be enough. Fortunately, there are still stronger states of sedation that our team could consider. Please note that depending on the strength of your sedation, you may not be able to respond to physical requests. As you may know, if you need even stronger sedation, you may be put to sleep.
However, please note that not everyone is a good candidate for dental sedation. If you’re interested in sedation, we recommend speaking to our team. We will gladly answer any of the questions you may have. If you have any more questions, or would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Anthony Shaia, please don’t hesitate to contact Shaia Dental Care at 440-884-9898. We’re eager to receive your call.
